Time goes by…so slowly
I’m so glad the sun and heat finally decided to make an appearance! It’s been so cold and rainy (I know that’s a standard West Coast thing) but we celebrated Canada Day in the rain! But nice to know that we are full force into July now….hard to believe we are more than halfway through 2010!
Do you ever feel that time just slips by you and all of sudden you realise how many days, months and years pass by and it just seems like a blur?
I came across Susanna Hertrich,a Parisan born designer (of German descent) who and works in Berlin . Her specialty is in photography, installations, machines, interactive pieces to storytelling and video. Her work has been showcased in galleries, more recently she had her first solo show at Felix Ringel gallery in Düsseldorf under the title of Gloomy Haven.
One of her works, Chrono-Shredder has been nominated for the international design award at DMY Berlin festival 2010. From her website:
The machine as performer. Chrono-Shredder is a poetic time-object that reminds us of the volatileness of the »now«. As hybrid object with functions similar to those of a calendar and a clock, it shreds every single day in realtime. All that time that is irrevisibly lost gets a tangible existence in form of shredded paper. As time passes by, the tattered remains of the past pile up under the device.
Poetic time indeed!
